Welcome to my first blog!
Exams are over and I finally have the time to set my own site up. Amazingly, the last time I had my own website was when I was about thirteen and was discovering the internet for the first time. I vaguely remember writing a whole site in html by myself, and now I am struggling to remember how to insert links into text! So bear with me while I get the site sorted out.
At the moment I am back at home with my family for a few days. Yesterday, my mum and I moved all my belongings from my room in St Andrews back to East Kilbride for the summer. I could hardly believe how much stuff I have, boxes and boxes, and bags and bags of things that somehow had fitted into my room. I still can't believe that it all fitted in the car. But I am back now facing the task of finding places in the house to store it all while I am away in Oxford all summer.
Last night, after lugging what seemed like an infinity of boxes into the house, my family and I went out to the East Kilbride annual outdoor festival in the village square. Having lived in East Kilbride for sixteen years, I had never heard of such a thing happening in a town like this. At first I was very dubious. There were many neds weaving through the crowds, and with cheap beer on tap, it seemed like only a matter of time before a fight broke out. To my amazement though, once everyone had settled into what is an unusually friendly atmosphere for East Kilbride, people were enjoying themselves. The live bands were quite good, the last one playing a bit of AC/DC and other classic rock. I wouldn't go as far to say that last night changed my perspective on East Kilbride, *Glances at the headline on the local paper 'Girl stabbed in Broad Daylight'* but it is nice to know that there are enough decent people in the town to make a night out enjoyable.
